Airdrie boss Ian Murray admits he is preparing for bids for Celtic and Rangers target Thomas Robert.

The young Frenchman has impressed at the Diamonds since joining in a shock transfer from Montpellier in his home country back in July.

His form, where he has scored four goals in 13 appearances so far this term, has brought with it scouts including from the top tier of Scottish football and both sides of the Old Firm.

And Murray, himself a former Ibrox star, is sure the bigger clubs will be sniffing around with firm offers come the January transfer window.

"It wouldn’t surprise me if we have a fight to keep him," the manager told Daily Record. "Thomas has done really, really well.

“He showed his class again against Clyde with the corner kick, but it wasn’t just that, in the first half he was excellent, his touches on the ball, his movement, his timing in the releasing of the ball, the way he picked up space, was excellent.

"We’ve had loads of clubs looking at him, a few of them were pretty impressed.

"Were they impressed enough to make a bid, I’m not sure, but I think there are a couple who are not too far away from that.”
