SCOTT ARFIELD has been ruled out of Saturday’s Old Firm clash with Celtic and faces weeks on the sidelines with an ankle injury.
The midfielder was forced off during the win over Hibernian at the weekend and had a scan to assess the damage on Tuesday.
Rangers are awaiting a final diagnosis on the injury but boss Steven Gerrard – speaking after the 2-0 win against St Mirren – is preparing to be without Arfield for the foreseeable future.
Gerrard said: “The scan came back and we are just waiting on a few more opinions on it.
“We’ve had one opinion on it and he will obviously be missing in the short term. He will definitely be missing for a few weeks, that’s for sure.
“But in terms of the exact date or time, it’s very difficult right now. He will certainly miss the next two or three fixtures."
