STEVEN GERRARD was pleased a 'patchy' performance was enough to earn Rangers all three points against St Mirren.

The Premiership leaders extended their winning league run to 13 games as they maintained their 16 point advantage over Celtic.

Goals from Kemar Roofe and Alfredo Morelos were enough to see off the Buddies as Rangers ensured they didn’t make the same mistake twice following their Betfred Cup defeat here earlier in the month.

Gerrard said: “It’s another strong win for us. I thought we controlled large parts of the game, we managed the game really well.

“I don’t think we showed our best style in terms of possession and creation but we have won the game comfortably.

“There are a lot of positives to take from the game, from individuals playing well within it.

“But there were patches which were a bit scrappy and a bit ugly as well. We came here to do a job, we came here for three points and we’ve done it.

“It was another strong performance from Glen Kamara and from Joe Aribo.

“We’ve got players in a good place. Ianis Hagi has contributed again with an assist.

“It’s another clean sheet as well. So there are a lot of pleasing things today. But in terms of how it looked on the eye, in terms of style, it was very patchy.

“We knew we never defended well when we came here two weeks ago. That was one thing we had to put right.

“We knew we would get chances, we knew we could score here. We knew if we were patient and kept asking questions, good chances would come. They did, that didn’t disappoint.

“We knew if we owned the pitch and were really aggressive, organised and kept a clean sheet, we knew the victory was there for us.

“But we had to go and deliver that. The players have done it."
