Rangers are 'more of a unit than ever' under Steven Gerrard as Billy Dodds highlights team ethic approach at Ibrox

The Light Blues are within touching distance of their first league crown in a decade as they prepare to host Ross County on Saturday aiming to extend their 20-point lead over Celtic at the top of the table.

Boss Steven Gerrard had an over-reliance on striker Alfredo Morelos during his first two seasons as the Gers were left empty-handed from their six attempts at the silverware.

But former Ibrox front man Dodds believes the improvements are clear to see this time out as the likes of James Tavernier and Kemar Roofe also play their part in front of goal.

Dodds told Herald and Times Sport: "Rangers have won more points, scored more goals and conceded fewer goals and that is a real team effort.

"Morelos has only got 10, but Rangers have people all over the pitch doing their fair share.

"Listen, it is a team game and the only way you are winning titles is if you have everyone performing.

"In the last two seasons, maybe there has been too much emphasis on Morelos and if he didn’t score then they were struggling.

"This shows you that you win titles by being a team, and that is what Rangers have been.

"They have accumulated more points than last year with Morelos scoring fewer goals so everyone is doing their job going forward. And their defensive record has just been incredible.

"Everything is better, everything has improved and they are more of a team. You feel as if Rangers are more of a unit then they have ever been under Gerrard this year."
