STEVEN GERRARD believes the return of Ryan Jack will be a significant boost to Rangers on and off the park as the Premiership leaders look to extend their advantage in the title race.

The midfielder hasn't featured for Gerrard's side since the win over Aberdeen in November but he has now recovered from a troublesome knee injury and is fit to feature in the squad against Ross County this afternoon.

Rangers remain unbeaten in the top flight this term and a win over the Staggies would move them 23 points clear of Celtic as they close in on the Premiership title.

Jack has been one of Gerrard's most consistent and influential performers throughout his two-and-a-half years at Ibrox and will be welcomed back into the fold for the County clash.

Gerrard said: “He’s a huge player for us, and I don’t just mean on the pitch.

“The way he goes about his daily routine he’s always driving and demanding more from others.

“He’s a leader. He trains at a level that makes it easy for others to follow.

"He sets standards on a daily basis and although we have done well in terms of the results, there is no doubt we have missed him the past few months.

“We have been on an exceptional run, but we have missed Jacko for sure. I don’t think I need to go on about him because you all know what I think of him.

“I was really tempted to involve him last week at Motherwell. But he’s had another full week’s training and he’s looking more ready now. He is back in the 18 for the St Mirren game.”
