Chris Sutton has taken a cheeky swipe at Celtic goalkeeper Vasilis Barkas insisting he's not seen him make a save this season.

The stopper shipped two more goals against Livingston in a 2-2 midweek draw and was criticised by fans for failing to keep out Ciaron Brown's opening header. Barkas has been dropped for Scott Bain and Conor Hazard this term despite a £5million fee in the summer and has conceded EVERY on target strike in the 2021 calendar year so far.

And Sutton, during BT Sport's SPFL Extra show, took a pop at the goalie for letting in his 21st goal in just his 20th first-team appearance. On the Livi draw, Sutton said: "It's gone from bad to worse this season. It wasn't a good performance, wasn't an easy pitch. I'm not making excuses, it was a remarkable game.

"It's little things like I still haven't seen Barkas make a save this season. That's absolutely remarkable."

Sutton is not the only ex-Celt to take aim at Barkas this season after Frank McAvennie branded the Greek AWFUL since joining the club. He said: "My God, Barkas is awful, I feel for him though because the boy has come in, made a mistake and then realised how big a club Celtic is. He has been getting slaughtered from pillar to post.

“The recruitment at Celtic needs to be looked at because it has not been good enough, Barkas included.”
