Liverpool hero Jamie Carragher has advised Trent Alexander-Arnold to give Steven Gerrard a call for help overcoming a slump in form.

Alexander-Arnold has not hit the form of last season yet this term where he produced the second highest number of assists for teammates with 13. He finished one ahead of Andy Robertson and behind only Manchester City's Kevin de Bruyne in the table as the Reds lifted the Premier League.

This campaign he only has two to his name in 17 league appearances with Liverpool so far struggling to regain their form. Carragher remembers Gerrard failing to hit his own high standards during his time as a player at Anfield. And he believes defender Alexander-Arnold could do a lot worse than ring up the club legend and ask for advise.

"We too easily forget that Trent Alexander-Arnold is only 22," Carragher told The Telegraph . "Trent could do worse than share a private call with Steven Gerrard.

"I remember well how Stevie overcame a slight dip after his first initial breakthrough into the first team, guided back to his best. It happens."
