STEVEN GERRARD hailed a five star showing from Rangers but insisted the performance wasn't perfect as they moved 23 points clear at the top of the table.

A 5-0 victory over Ross County at Ibrox - courtesy of goals from Ryan Kent, Filip Helander, Joe Aribo, Ryan Jack and Connor Goldson - saw Rangers take another step towards the Premiership title.

The Light Blues could have won by more on a thoroughly pleasing afternoon for Gerrard as his key men produced a fine showing when called upon.

And the Ibrox boss was delighted to see his side hit their stride as they continue to search for improvement to ensure they can cross the winning line in the top flight.

Gerrard said: “There's no such thing as a perfect performance for a manager, you're always looking for little things to improve on.

“But we asked the players for a 90 minute performance and they delivered that. We looked dangerous from start to finish.

“We played with a real urgency today. We did all the right things and in possession we played some lovely football.

“We could have had the game won in 15 minutes which is how we wanted the players to start the game. We had five different scorers, a couple of set piece goals so I'm really pleased.

“It's about variety in our play. We can't be predictable with teams in front of us – we have to have a threat in behind.

“I thought Kent brought that today in abundance. When he plays with that ambition to run in behind without the ball – as well as what he's got in a one v one, he's hard to control and mark.

“He deserved man of the match. Our rotation and inter play today was outstanding and I had the luxury to make changes.

“Maybe the players didn't deserve to come off but I have to think of the bigger picture, we have a big game on Wednesday.

“Alfredo was superb in everything he did today but it was nice to get the players some minutes from the side.

“It was a really strong performance, especially from an attacking point of view."
