Ralph Hassenhuttl has promised to keep Fraser Forster in goal for the FA Cup run after he helped dump Arsenal.

The goalkeeper made some big saves in big moments to keep out the holders as Southampton sealed a 1-0 victory thanks to a Gabriel own goal.

Rumours won't go away about Celtic's interest in the Englishman who spent two separate spells on loan as well as a permanent stint at Parkhead before he joined Saints.

But Hassenhuttl's vow to allow him to keep his place between the sticks in the cup competition ahead of regular number one Alex McCarthy looks to have put paid to that.

"[Forster] deserves now to be our cup goalkeeper now, I think," Hasenhuttl told HampshireLive. He has helped us through to the next round and he has another clean sheet too - he is doing a fantastic job.

"We have two really good goalkeepers so there is no reason why I shouldn't trust him again.

"The goalkeepers are getting better and better. They're coming along really strongly and the praise goes to my goalkeeper coach and the good work that he does."

Forster kept out Eddie Nketiah with a fine stop with his feet before guaranteeing his shut-out. It was his third appearance of the season where he has kept as many clean sheets.
