CELTIC are 'closely monitoring' the progress of Hibs left-back Josh Doig but could face stiff opposition from the Premier League for the youngster's signature, according to reports.

The Parkhead club are said to be keeping tabs on the left-back, who has broken into the first team this season.

But with English heavy hitters Arsenal and Chelsea also casting admiring glances in the 18-year-old's direction, the Premiership champions could have a fight on their hands to recruit the talented teenager.

Sky Sports are reporting that Celtic, alongside the two London clubs, are considering making an approach for Doig in the summer, adding that the player "has attracted attention from a host of clubs" since breaking into the starting XI at Easter Road.

Doig has made 18 appearances in all competitions under Jack Ross this season, including last weekend's 3-0 defeat to St Johnstone in the semi-finals of the Betfred Cup.

The Hibs academy graduate's contract does not expire until the summer of 2023, and he was included in Billy Stark's Scotland Under-19s squad back in November 2020.
