FILIP HELANDER reckons confidence has been key to Rangers this term after Steven Gerrard's side took another step towards the Premiership title by seeing off Hibernian.

The Gers are now just a handful of wins away from their first league flag in a decade as they maintained their 23-point advantage over Celtic at the top of the table.

Alfredo Morelos netted the only goal of the game to extend the unbeaten Premiership run ahead of the visit of St Johnstone to Ibrox next midweek.

And Helander was delighted with another hugely significant victory as the Swede played his part in a clean sheet success at Easter Road.

Helander told RangersTV: "Very proud. The three points are what we came here for and we got it. It was a tough game.

"I think they played well and with the pitch as well it was difficult and we had to change a little bit our style of play. We are very happy.

"I think that shows that we are in a good place and that we believe in what we do. We have a lot of guys with confidence and that is what you need in a good team.

"I think the whole team, but especially the defenders, it is something that we talk about and we want to keep clean sheets.

"If we do that, we have enough quality up front to get us a goal, like we did [on Wednesday night] and that gives us the three points.

"That is one of the strengths of our team, we have a lot of players that can come in and perform and you saw [against Hibs] it was Buff that scored.

"In the last game [against Ross County] we have five different scorers and a lot of players contribute to the team. That is perfect.

"It is always enjoyable when you are winning and we just have to keep continuing to do that and look forward to the game on Wednesday."
