Celtic were provided assurances over their Dubai trip, it has been revealed.
The Hoops were permitted to make the trip for their training break after government officials deemed it in compliance with elite sports travel protocols.
The camp sparked controversy upon the player and staff returns when 14 players and staff were forced into self-isolation when Christopher Jullien tested positive for Covid-19. A short time later Neil Lennon confirmed a second player - who had been self-isolating - also returned a positive test.
First Minister Nicola Sturgeon criticised the trip recently, questioning whether or not it was 'really necessary' for the Hoops to head out to United Arab Emirates.
But the BBC report that, having seen emails from the Scots government sent to Celtic, that they were told the trip was within the rules and that they were content to sign off on it.
The email, sent on November 12 and written by a government official, said: "I am pleased to say this is covered.
"Domestic and elite sportspersons can attend elite training overseas in a non-exempt country, and be exempt on return to Scotland.

"This is on the basis that you will be continuing activities as an elite sportsperson operating under the relevant resumption of performance sport guidelines on return to Scotland.
"All will need written evidence from the governing body confirming that they are an elite sportsperson."
We told how Lennon was furious with how the trip was portrayed and criticised by pundits, the government and media alike. He launched a blistering defence of the move, and his comments were then branded "appalling" by John Swinney.
The education secretary said: "I am at a loss for words. I said a few weeks ago that it was a bad idea for Celtic to go to Dubai for this trip. It was not a great signal. I have no ill will towards Neil Lennon whatsoever but I think his comments were appalling."
