NEIL Lennon last night revealed that Celtic right back Hatem Abd Elhamed is set to leave Parkhead and rejoin Hapoel Be’er Sheva in his native Israel.
Lennon revealed that Elhamed, whose wife and young son are back in his homeland, has been “very low” living in Scotland during the Covid-19-affected 2020/21 campaign.
The 29-year-old, who was signed from Be’er Sheva for £1.6m in 2019, is poised to complete his move back to his former club in the coming days.
"A deal's been agreed with Be'er Sheva,” said Lennon. “I don't know if it has been finalised. He was going through a really difficult time, his wife and son were back in Israel and he was here on his own and he was really struggling with life away from the training ground and stadium.
“We have to take into consideration the human factor on that. I wouldn't say he was suffering with depression, but he was very low, so we have made the right decision for him and the club. I think their transfer window is open, so there are no issues with that."
