Stuart Hogg Forget about potential Lions starter – Scotland’s two try hero is a potential Lions captain on this sort of form (if the tour goes ahead). 9

Darcy Graham As fearless and energetic as ever. Marked his first game since the 2nd January with a fine try. 8

Chris Harris Solid as always in defence and did what was asked of him with ball in hand. 7

James Lang. Didn’t let anyone down, but nowhere near the impact we saw from Cameron Redpath last week. 6

Duhan van der Merwe Caught in no-man’s land in the lead-up to Rees- Zammit’s first try and will be frustrated that he couldn’t escape Owen Watkin at the end. 6

Finn Russell Kicked his goals and was always looking to make things happen, but not at his imperious best. 7

Ali Price What was he thinking towards the end when he sent an aimless kick downfield when Scotland needed to force their way back into the lead? 7

Rory Sutherland Didn’t have it all his own way in the scrum, but solid enough. 7

George Turner Not as prominent in the loose as he can be. 7

Zander Fagerson Red-card was perhaps harsh but he put himself in the firing line by not attempting to wrap his arm around Wyn Jones. 5

Scott Cummings His obstruction which led to Gary Graham’s try being disallowed proved costly, but generally tidy. 7

Jonny Gray His thundering run up the middle of the park during the first half was a wonderful sight. 7

Blade Thomson Came off with a head knock on 12 minutes without having a chance to make an impact. 5

Hamish Watson A couple of big tackles and trademark turnovers from a player who never seems to have an off day. 8

Matt Fagerson Worked hard but too many soft penalties, including an early one which gave Wales the platform for their opening points. 7

Best of the rest

WP Nel Replaced Darcy Graham after Fagrerson’s red-card which is a switch nobody every expected to see. 5

Richie Gray Got his hands on the ball and tried to make things happen as Scotland tried desperately to rescue it durng the final quarter. 6

Gary Graham Came one for the concussed Blade Thomson on 12 minutes and was subbed off again on 56 minutes, with a disallowed try and a pile of penalties conceded during his 44 minutes on the park. 5
