FORMER Celtic striker Chris Sutton and Ibrox legend Ally McCoist have offered their takes on the penalty awarded against Rangers in the Europa League against Antwerp.

The two sides were level deep into first-half stoppage time after Joe Aribo had handed Steven Gerrard's the lead, with Felipe Avenatti equalising as the clock struck 45 minutes.

The referee allowed play to continue and in the SEVENTH minute of added time, awarded a penalty to the hosts after Lior Refaelov went down in the box very easily under a challenge from Steven Davis.

VAR was in use for the tie and the incident was reviewed and the decision deemed to be correct, with Refaelov adding further salt into Rangers' wounds by tucking away the spot-kick.

McCoist, who was working as a pundit for BT Sport, described Refaelov as "utterly embarrassing" during the broadcaster's half-time coverage.

And even Sutton conceded that the Rangers players could feel very hard done by.
