LEON Balogun has provided Rangers fans with a positive update on his Ibrox contract situation and revealed he is confident of still being in Scotland next season.

Nigerian internationalist Balogun, who moved to Glasgow from Wigan on a free transfer last summer, has been outstanding in the 2020/21 campaign and established himself as a first team regular in Steven Gerrard's side.

The 32-year-old centre half, who made his 23rd appearance for the Premiership leaders in their 4-3 Europa League win over Royal Antwerp in Belgium on Thursday night, only signed an agreement until the summer when he joined.

However, the defender has an extenson clause that is set to be triggered immnently and is certain he will still be a Rangers player when the 2021/22 season gets underway.

“I am playing for an amazing club,” he said. “This season so far has been going really well for me. So, yeah, I just hope it keeps going, I hope I can keep the momentum going and we can then at one point announce that we pulled the trigger.

“Obviously it is under some confidentiality. But it is getting closer and closer. Let’s just say I am quite confident that my time with Rangers is not over after this season.”
