Alex McLeish has tipped both Steven Gerrard AND Jurgen Klopp to stay at their respective clubs beyond the end of this season amid rumours the Rangers boss could be the next Liverpool manager.

Speculation continues to circulate about Gerrard being the natural replacement for Klopp at Anfield. Social media whispers had claimed the German was considering taking a break from football for a while as the Covid pandemic continues to spread and the nightmare of losing his mother recently.

Klopp addressed the rumours and shot them down, insisting he remains happy in his job. And with Gers on the cusp of their first Premiership trophy in 10 years, Gerrard is also in a contented position in Glasgow.

Big Eck reckons both managers will be in the same roles this summer, Gerrard with a league title under his belt, with a view of retaining that championship. Though he believes the Reds icon could well be Liverpool boss one day.

Asked if Gerrard will be at the Light Blues beyond the summer, McLeish said: "I think he will, I think he will. You're asking me if Liverpool come calling, if Jurgen Klopp leaves then I just don't see it. In my crystal ball I see Jurgen Klopp staying and Steven Gerrard, having lifted the, league championship, staying as well to try and further his trophy haul, hopefully a couple by that time, maybe the Scottish Cup as well.

"I think he'll stay if he wins us the league this year and I see Jurgen Klopp staying at Liverpool.

"One day maybe they could come calling for him. And I'm sure Rangers, if he leaves, they'll get the right man in to replace him as well."

McLeish was in conversation with Football Pass UK.
