CELTIC have a fight on their hands to keep a hold of star striker Odsonne Edouard - with Premier League outfit Leicester City and Italian giants Roma reportedly entering the race for the forward.

Foxes boss Brendan Rodgers is very familiar with the France Under-21 internationalist, having brought Edouard to Parkhead when he was manager, while the allure of Serie A football in Rome may prove too great for Edouard to resist.

According to the Daily Mail, the two clubs are set to duke it out for the silky striker's signature - and could be joined by Premier League duo Arsenal and Aston Villa.

However, any fans of the Glasgow club expecting a record transfer fee should Edouard leave this summer are going to be disappointed - with the Mail claiming that a sum of around £20million should be enough to prise Edouard away from Celtic Park.

That's HALF of what the Parkhead club's reported asking price was last summer - and less than the £25m Arsenal shelled out to sign Kieran Tierney two years ago.

Edouard was reportedly agitating for a move in the January window, with former manager Neil Lennon admitting that the forward's head had been turned.

But since a move failed to materialise, Edouard has been back to brilliant best, scoring 11 times in his last 13 outings.

“He had issues going on in the first half of the season, but he seems to have really found his mojo. He makes us a better team, no question of that," Lennon said earlier this month.

“He is difficult to really get to know because he is so quiet. With the way things are going through this Covid period, you are a little bit more disconnected from the players at times.

“But you speak to him one on one and he has found it difficult this season, like many of them away from the football club.

"You can’t keep a good player down for long.

“He has really found good form at the minute and I am really enjoying working with him and watching him play.

“He had issues from the first half of the season. He felt he missed out on a potential move, so he has galvanised himself and is making a good contribution at the minute.

“We just kept working with him. We kept working on the training ground and cajoling him and supporting him really.

“He has done so much for me since I came back in the second spell and it’s important that I support him as well.

“We are getting a good response out of him now and I am very pleased with him now.”
