Jurgen Klopp has delivered his verdict on Ben Davies with the former Celtic target linked again with Parkhead.

Davies opted to join Liverpool last window in an eleventh hour switch despite the Hoops believing they had secured him on a pre-contract deal from Preston.

With the Reds without top defenders like Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez, Klopp swooped for the Championship star before admitting that market is not one Liverpool would usually buy from. Now, with Davies yet to pull on his new club's jersey - and their first-choice defenders beginning to return from injury slowly but surely - Celts could be on the prowl for the player again.

And German boss Klopp revealed details of how the centre-half has failed, thus far, to adapt to life in the top tier of English football. "Ben Davies had a test to adapt," Klopp said. "It was always clear – a lot of players came here to Liverpool and the most famous story is maybe Andy Robertson.

"It took him half a year in a normal season to settle in. Ben is a really good player but he has to get used to all the stuff here as well. What we have now is options and hopefully, it will stay like this."
