RANGERS striker Kemar Roofe was shown a red card just six minutes after coming off the bench against Slavia Prague.

With his side trailing 1-0 on the night and 2-1 on aggregate, the striker was brought on for Scott Arfield with 55 minutes on the clock.

But Roofe's night was brought to a premature end just after the hour-mark when he received a straight red for a horror challenge on Slavia goalkeeeper Ondrej Kolar.

Leading with his foot raised high, the former Leeds and Anderlecht forward missed the ball completely as the ball bounced and struck Kolar in the face, sending the goalkeeper to the floor and writhing in pain. There was no intent, but it was a dangerous challenge.

Referee Orel Grinfeld needed no convincing and immediately gave Roofe his marching orders and after receiving some treatment on the park, Kolar was stretchered off and replaced by Matyas Vagner.

Rangers' evening then went from bad to worse after defender Leon Balogun joined Roofe for an early bath after picking up two bookings, with Slavia midfielder Nicolae Stanciu curling in a magnificent free-kick to put the visitors two ahead.
