BETFAIR are no longer taking bets on Roy Keane being appointed Celtic boss after a surge in punters backing the Manchester United legend to land the Parkhead gig.

The Irishman's last management role was at Ipswich between 2009 and 2011, although he has also worked as Martin O'Neill's assistant with his national side, as well as a short stint as No.2 at former club Nottingham Forest in 2019.

Keane left that role to try and resurrect his management career, and punters across the country reckon he's on the brink of a move to Glasgow.

“Following a flurry of bets on Roy Keane to become the next Celtic manager, Betfair has suspended betting on who will take over at Celtic Park," said a spokesman for the betting company.

“On Monday, Keane was 15/2 to take over from Neil Lennon but punters heavily backed the Irishman into 1/3 before the market was suspended on Thursday afternoon.

“It seems clear to punters that Celtic are ready to name their new manager and that Roy Keane will be walking through the door any time now.”
