Stubs, who had stints as manager of Hibs and St Mirren in Scotland, admits that Celtic have a ‘huge challenge’ ahead to overturn the momentum gathered by Old Firm rivals Rangers.

Glasgow Times:

Steven Gerrard’s side have ran away with the league this term, winning it in early March, and remain unbeaten heading into the final five matches of the season.

John Kennedy continues to act as interim manager at Parkhead but is unlikely to be handed the role on a full-time basis. Numerous names have been linked with the job, from Roy Keane to Jesse Marsch and Howe.

“Rangers are gathering momentum and have been very good this season,” Stubbs admitted to Sky Sports.

“So, Celtic have got a huge challenge on their hands now.”

Glasgow Times:

Howe is best known for his stint at Bournemouth. He took them to the Premier League and established them as a mainstay in England’s top division for five seasons before they were relegated in 2020.

“It’s so important the managerial appointment that they make. Looking at all the candidates that are there right now, for me Eddie Howe jumps out as the best one for it,” Stubbs added.

“I think he’s a really good coach. He’s done really well at Bournemouth in terms of the job he did keeping them in the Premier League for years.

“At this moment looking at the list of names that is there, Eddie Howe would be the one for me.”
