KEMAR ROOFE has thanked Ibrox heroes Allan McGregor and Steven Davis for helping him settle into life at Rangers this season.

The striker has enjoyed an impressive debut campaign as he has scored 14 times in 30 outings for Steven Gerrard's side.

Roofe's efforts have been rewarded with the Premiership title this term and he would also star in the Europa League as Rangers reached the last 16 before losing to Slavia Prague.

The presence of McGregor and Davis has been hugely beneficial to the champions on and off the park in recent months and the Ibrox pair have given Gerrard a boost ahead of the new campaign by committing their futures to Rangers for another season.

Roofe told RangersTV: “They are massive. I have come in not knowing all the history or the importance of even this season.

“So I can always go to those guys and ask them questions and get reassurance on certain things I might not be 100 per cent sure of as they have been here for however many seasons and done it before.

“One thing I will always remember is they have always said this one is the most important.

"They have won titles before but they have said this one is the most important one.”

Rangers ended a decade-long wait for silverware success by clinching the Premiership title in March and the trophy will be presented when Gerrard's side face Aberdeen next month.

A place in the Champions League qualifiers will be their reward next season and Roofe is relishing the chance to play at the highest level on the continent.

Roofe said: “It’s massive and it is one of the things in football that I wanted to achieve.

"I wanted to play European football and then play Champions League football.

“We have put ourselves in a great position to be able to fulfil that, but now we just need to do that.”
