STEVEN GERRARD has confirmed Rangers remain in discussions with Glen Kamara and Connor Goldson over extensions to their Ibrox deals.

The champions moved a step closer to completing a Premiership and Scottish Cup double this season after beating Old Firm rivals Celtic on Sunday.

Gerrard hailed the contributions of Allan McGregor and Steven Davis after the pair recently signed new contracts to commit their futures to the club.

The Ibrox veterans were two of the stand-outs against Celtic and Gerrard is keen to tie down the stalwarts of his squad as attentions turn to a league and cup double-header with St Johnstone this week.

He told RangersTV: "I thought there was a lot of big performances. Look, we challenged the lads in the one v ones.

"Derby games are about winning the one v ones and the two v ones, for example the centre-backs against Edouard. You have to win that battle if you are to come out on top.

"We challenged the lads and they have all passed with flying colours because we have won the game 2-0 with a clean sheet.

"McGregor, I am bored of speaking about him! He is world class, I have said it before.

"We have just given him a year deal but we should have given him a ten [year] one because he can have my job after me if he wants it! We love him that much he can have whatever he wants.

"Steven Davis was majestic in the middle of the park alongside Glen Kamara.

"Glen is someone who we are still trying and talking to to commit here because he is a big player for us. Connor Goldson is the same.

"There are a lot of players we are working with to try and get them tied up here because they are so important for the team moving forward.

"It is important now that we settle down after this game, get ready for Wednesday night and calm our jets and get prepared now for another game on Wednesday and another big game on [Sunday].

"It is important because we want to go and build on this result and performance now."
