Kris Boyd has named nine Rangers players in his Premiership team of the season - but there is no room for Alfredo Morelos.

Boyd has confessed he could have picked the entire Ibrox starting XI after they stylishly swept to the top-flight title for the first time in a decade.

But the former Light Blues striker has found a place for Celtic star Odsonne Edouard, despite the marksman being seemingly out of sorts for much of the campaign.

Hibs winger Martin Boyle is the other who finds favour with Boyd, whose team is otherwise filled with Rangers players right across defence and midfield.

He said: “My full team could have been Rangers!

“[But] there is no getting away from the fact Odsonne Edouard is the best striker in the league. I'd always have the top goal scorer in my team.

“What Alfredo Morelos does for Rangers is brilliant but if Edouard was in that team, Rangers would be beating teams 3-0 or 4-0 every week.”

Boyd was asked by Sky Sports to make the selection and was full of praise for former Rangers team-mate Allan McGregor in goals.

He added: “There have not been many that have trained at the level Allan McGregor has. He is in the gym every morning and after every session.

“He’s 39 now and you don’t put in the performances and make big saves at crucial times if you don’t look after yourself. For me, he is the ultimate professional.”

Boyd’s team: McGregor; Tavernier, Goldson, Helander, Barisic; Aribo, Davis, Kamara; Boyle, Edouard, Kent.
