Shane Duffy has bid an emotional farewell to Celtic after he was sent back to parent club Brighton this week.

The defender did not have the easiest season in green and white and was heavily criticised for high-profile errors during the Hoops' bid to seal 10 in a row.

Costing a pretty penny on loan, Duffy did not hit the heights expected of him and he had his loan deal cut short after injury forced him out of the final two fixtures of the season.

The Irishman remains a die-hard Celtic fan despite the flop campaign and he thanked the Glasgow giants for allowing him to live out his dream of playing for the club, even though it didn't work out as planned. And he had a special 'hail hail' message for supporters which he shared on social media.

Posting a picture of himself and teammates hoisting the Scottish Cup aloft from last season, Duffy wrote: "Grateful for the opportunity to get the chance to play for a club that many dream about doing. Thanks to the supporters and the players for helping me through a tough year on and off the field.

"Not many know what goes on behind the scenes . Time to hit restart button and get myself sorted. Celtic football club will always have a place in my heart - hail hail".
