Patryk Klimala has been hailed by New York Red Bulls boss Gerhard Struber following his debut last weekend.

The Polish striker was a big-money signing for the MLS outfit this season as Celtic recouped their £3.5million spend on the player and then some.

The former Jagiellonia Bialystok attacker sprang from the bench for Red Bulls as they fell to a 1-0 defeat to Philadelphia but Struber says he saw enough from the 22-year-old to prove he can have a big career in America.

The manager said: "I can see right now - and also in the future - a deep impact in our game. We can see he creates some chances, he has some chances to score, and I think with his speed, with his movements, with his timing, he is very difficult to defend.

"In some moments, we can see his powerful style and I think he’s very helpful for us right now and in the future."

We revealed recently that Klimala has become Red Bulls' highest earner after departing Parkhead.

He is currently on an eye-popping $1million base salary per year which equates to around £800,000.
