A EURO fan zone in Glasgow Green will not be moved to another city even if Covid restrictions remain, organisers have said.

Glasgow Life bosses have confirmed there is no contingency plan in place to take the space, which will welcome up to 6000 spectators each day, to a different location.

The city remains the only local authority area in the whole of Scotland under level three Covid rules, although First Minister Nicola Sturgeon said yesterday there was “cautious optimism” they could soon be relaxed.

Organisers, who revealed the plans on Monday, said at the time they would monitor the situation in Glasgow in the run up to the tournament.

When asked what would happen if the city remained in level three or, in a worst case scenario, was moved to level four, fan zone bosses confirmed they still intended to keep the site in the park.

A spokesman for Glasgow Life, one of the organisers of the space, said: “There is no contingency plan to run the fan zone in another location.”

Meanwhile, a probe has been a launched into the ticketing of the fan zone after tickets sold out before going live.
