Philip Zinckernagel has claimed Watford are a "much bigger club" than Celtic after deciding to join the Hornets in January.

The Dane was a wanted man during the transfer window after opting to leave Bodo/Glimt.

He claimed at the time then-Celtic boss Neil Lennon was keen to bring him to Parkhead. However, in a Q&A he has now revealed there was nothing on the table from the Hoops.

He also told how Championship side Watford were more appealing. "We never got close to signing any deal with Celtic," he said.

"But there was a lot of talking and a lot of interest, so it was something that I had to consider, for sure.

"There were a few Championship clubs interested as well, but nothing that attracted me as much as Watford did.

"Watford were a much bigger club and it was an easy decision in the end."
