Celtic striker Leigh Griffiths has shown his commitment to regaining fitness as he joined teenager Karamoko Dembele for a vigorous training session.

The Hoops forward was filmed working out as the new season approaches.

Griff was put through various drills including speed and agility training as well as a few shooting exercises.

Glasgow Times:

New manager Ange Postecoglou will have a difficult decision to make regarding the attacker, with the Glasgow giants yet to decide whether to extend his contract to 2022.

Griffiths was criticised by former boss Neil Lennon for his poor fitness last season, which resulted in him not lasting a full 90-minutes.

Lennon told BBC Radio Scotland on Tuesday: "The disappointing thing for me was that after the lockdown he came back really out of condition.

"Having got back into the team after being out for so long with his own issues we got him fit, he was forming a really good partnership with (Odsonne) Edouard.

Glasgow Times:

"Griffiths is an incredible goal scorer, the most naturally gifted goal scorer Scotland have had for quite a while.”

Lennon admitted he was unsure if Griffiths would ever play for his country again, after he missed out on Steve Clarke’s squad for the 2020 Euros.

He said: "He has to look at himself and get himself in the best condition. He's only 30, he must have been sitting there yesterday going, 'I should be out there'.

"I don't know if that ship's sailed now, I really don't know.”

He went on to say that in the modern game, fitness is a top priority with plenty of experts available to support players.

He said: "He has to get himself in the best condition possible and there's no excuse not to these days because you've got great fitness coaches, medical staff, nutritionists and all those things.

"He's a rascal, he's a bit different and maybe that's what separates him from the rest.

"But he didn't do himself any favours this season that's for sure."

With Postecoglou expected to arrive at the club next week, Griffiths appears to be doing all he can to impress the new manager and extend his stay in Glasgow.
