Hibs and Aberdeen will find out their opponents in the newly formed Europa Conference League this afternoon.

The draw for the second qualifying round, where both teams enter, will begin at 12.30pm and will be streamed live on Uefa’s website.

They enter the competition having qualified for the new tournament through finishing third and fourth in the Premiership last season.

Both clubs are seeded for the round meaning they will avoid tricky opponents such as FC Basel and Copenhagen.

But there are still a number of challenging opponents in the unseeded category so fans of both teams will be watching eagerly to see who they are drawn with.

The potential opponents for the Scottish clubs include: Servette (Switzerland), Aris Salonika (Greece), Ashdod (Israel), Hammarby (Sweden), Ujpest (Hungary) and Slask Worclaw (Poland).

Servette of the Swiss Super League stand out as a particularly tough opponent with the side finishing comfortably in third place in their domestic league.

Aris Salonika could equally prove difficult to overcome after finishing ahead of AEK Athens and Panathinaikos in Greece to reach third place.

The ties for the second qualifying round will be played on July 22 and July 29 with the draw for the third round taking place on July 19.

This means both sides will know their potential opponents for the next round before the second round ties kick off.

The Scottish clubs will have to navigate through three qualifying rounds if they want to make it to the group stage of the competition.

With travel resrictions easing over the summer, eager fans may well be able to plan an away trip should their side draw an opponent on a green listed country.

The new competition will undergo its inaugural year this season as Uefa look to open more pathways for teams to play European football.

There will still be plenty of top teams involved in the competition with the likes of Tottenham, Roma Anderlecht and Rennes all entering at later qualifying phases.
