Gordon Strachan will not be heading back to Celtic in a sporting director capacity.
That is according to incoming chief executive Dominic McKay.
The former Hoops manager had last week been linked with a sensational return to Parkhead in an upstairs role with recruitment and football operations the most likely issues to deal with.
However, despite insisting he is open-minded about the club's structure moving forward, McKay confirmed it would not be a role he sees Strachan taking over.
Asked directly about that potentially happening, McKay said: "No. I want to make my own mark and part of that is looking at how we might want to modernise and evolve. I will make sure we are a forward looking club."
On future structure, McKay added: "I am completely open minded.
"Your suggestion was that Gordon was coming in to do a director of football role, that is not my intention.
"Once we get the structure right we will make the decisions on who to populate that with."
