Rangers duo Glenn Middleton and Josh McPake are poised to leave the club on loan once again.

The former, who spent time at St Johnstone last season where he won two cups, looks likely to return to McDiarmid Park under Callum Davidson.

And McPake, who starred for both Morton and Harrogate last term, is reportedly ready to snub a move to Motherwell in the Scottish Premiership to try his hand down south once more at Morecambe.

That would see him link up with, somewhat ironically, former Steel Men boss Stephen Robinson at the Shrimps.

Both are believed to have futures at Ibrox but are unlikely to be able to force their way into the first-team set-up yet under Steven Gerrard with the Light Blues focused on retaining their title.

Meanwhile, captain James Tavernier has revealed his Champions League ambition - to play in the competition alongside stopper Connor Goldson.

"I’ve loved it from the first moment Connor came in," Tavernier told the Rangers official souvenir magazine. "I was with him at Shrewsbury so I knew him before he came here and we gelled straight away. Having that relationship with him next to me is great and we have an understanding on the pitch.

"If I go forward he knows the positions and the chemistry is so high, and even when it comes down to him scoring goals from my free-kicks, we have got a great understanding with each other.

“If it wasn’t for Connor next to me we wouldn’t have probably got the amount of success we have had this season. He has been such a pivotal part in that success and he leads by example day in day out.

“I’m really proud of what he has done and what he has achieved. I just can’t wait to play in the Champions League next season with him.”
