Leigh Griffiths has left Celtic's training camp in Wales as the club investigate claims he sent inappropriate messages to an underage girl.
The striker is alleged to have sent the girl - claimed to be 15-years-old - flirty DMs.
Police Scotland confirmed they would be looking into the allegations which surfaced on social media.
And now the club have told how they would launch their own probe into the alleged incident - as Griffiths left the Welsh camp while the investigation was ongoing.
A statement from the Hoops said: "We have been made aware of online comments concerning Leigh Griffiths. The club will now look into this matter carefully.
“Leigh has left the training camp as we do this.
“It would not be appropriate to make any further comment at this time.”
We told how Griffiths, 30, recently put pen to paper on a new one-year deal at Parkhead following new head coach Ange Postecoglou's conversation with the player over his attitude.
