RANGERS will welcome Real Madrid to Ibrox for only the second time later this month.

The Spanish giants have only ever faced the Gers at Ibrox in a European Cup clash back in 1963.

But they will return to Glasgow on July 27 for a friendly match as both teams prepare for the upcoming season.

The match has been arranged as part of the 150th anniversary celebrations, as Rangers celebrate the landmark in 2022.

Carlo Ancelotti will bring his side to Ibrox just six days before Rangers return to competitive action, and only one day after a match against Brighton and Hove Albion.

Rangers and Real Madrid last clashed at Ibrox in the 1963/64 season when the Spaniards travelled to Glasgow for the first round of the European Cup.

Los Blancos ran out 1-0 winners in the Euro showdown, played in front of 80,000 fans with Ferenc Puskas netting the only goal of the game just four minutes from full-time.

Rangers then travelled to Spain for the return match, but fell to a 6-0 loss at the Bernabeu.

Puskas bagged a hat-trick in the second leg, with Evaristo, Paco Gento and Felix Ruiz also on the scoresheet.

The friendly clash could see world superstars Toni Kroos, Luka Modric, Gareth Bale, Eden Hazard and Karim Benzema take to the Ibrox turf.
