Callum McGregor has singled out Celtic youngster Owen Moffat following his goal against Sheffield Wednesday in pre-season.

The 19-year-old started and scored the Hoops' second goal as Ange Postecoglou got off to a winning start as manager.

Moffat produced a smart finish for his strike, but it was no shock to McGregor, who knows what the youth team player is capable of.

He revealed to Celtic TV: "After a shaky start, they regained their composure and went on and won the game convincingly, which is great to see.

"Obviously a mention for young Moffat, his attitude has been first class.

"I remember watching him at the end of last season, training on the astro himself.

"Every day they would do finishing and I remember thinking 'he's got a finish on him'.

"I wasn't surprised yesterday when it dropped and he half-volleyed it into the net.

"It's brilliant for guys like that to come in and show what they can do."

Moffat is contracted with Celtic until 2024 after recently signing a new deal.

He is eligable to play for the Hoops' B team next season, although it remains to be seen whether he will be utilised in the first team.
