ANGE POSTECOGLOU is set to miss out on transfer target Kaoru Mitoma with reports suggesting the winger has agreed a move to the Premier League.

Japanese media claim Mitoma, who worked under Ange Postecoglou at Yokohama F. Marinos, is set for a switch to Brighton before a loan to Belgium.

Tokyo Sports report Mitoma has agreed to join Brighton after the Tokyo Olympics but will be shipped out on loan to Royal Union Saint-Giroise.

Mitoma is unlikely to qualify for a work permit so would spend time out on loan before applying at a later date.

The forward was linked with a move overseas away from Kawasaki Frontale after signing with Dan Nomura known for his role as a baseball agent helping Asian baseball stars move to the USA.

And while a "general agreement" has been reached there has been no official confirmation which could give Postecoglou some hope of bringing his former player to Glasgow.

Japan begin their Olympics football journey on July 22 as they take on France, Mexico and South Africa in Group A.

Mitoma has been selected alongside headline stars Takefusa Kubo and Maya Yoshida.
