Aaron Hickey has been added to Bologna's pre-season training camp despite being linked with a £3.5million transfer to Celtic.

The defender is wanted in Glasgow with the Hoops hoping to add to their ranks.

Greg Taylor and Boli Bolingoli are currently the club's two left-backs but it is not yet known whether the latter will be handed a second chance following his Covid controversy last season.

Hickey, the former Hearts ace, would represent a shrewd piece of business for Celts but it is believed his Serie A side have slapped an £8m price tag on his head to try and deter bids.

And manager Siniša Mihajlović has brought the 19-year-old along with the rest of his squad to Bologna's camp in Trentino.

Hickey previously revealed he was "aware" of interest in him this summer as rumours ramped up his boyhood club were keen on bringing him back to Scotland.

We recently sat down with the full-back about his time in Italy and his hopes to play for Scotland - even if it means turning out at right-back.

He said: "Steve [Clarke, Scotland manager] called Bologna to monitor my progress, but by that time I wasn't training fully yet. So when he announced the squad I'd only been back in training about a week. He was just monitoring me, I don't know if I'd have been in any squad but it was really good to hear."
