AYRSHIRE Bulls and Heriot’s became the first two Super6 teams to unveil their full squad lists, ahead of the league coming out of its Covid-induced 16-month hibernation a week today.

The two franchises, who were supposed to face each other in the play-off semi-final of the inaugural season before the pandemic took its toll, are expecting to be among the leading contenders again this coming season.

Heriot’s kick off their 2021 campaign with an away match against Boroughmuir Bears next Friday, while Ayrshire Bulls host Watsonians – the top dogs 2019-20 – on Sunday 1stAugust, with that match being shown live on FreeSports.

“Our aim is to improve these players so that they can not only win matches but catch the eye of the Edinburgh and Glasgow coaches, to go on to earn professional contracts and one day pull on the Scottish jersey,” said Heriot’s head coach Andrew Kelly.

“Our squad has a mix of young Scots with some older heads, and there is quality dotted throughout,” said Ayrshir Bulls head coach Pat MacArthur. “Blair Macpherson will be the captain; he’s constantly been outstanding and has been one of our leaders for a long time.”
