Celtic are eyeing a move for German defender Moritz Jenz.

The 6ft3in centre-half has been plying his trade in Switzerland with Lausanne-Sport since last year.

At just 22-years-old the towering ace featured 30 times for the Swiss outfit last season as he helped them towards a sixth-placed finish in the top league.

And Herald and Times Sport understands Celts have been monitoring the player for some time as he can also operate at right-back.

He scored his only goal of the campaign in a 1-1 draw away at FC Sion but he fits the profile of player the Hoops have been looking to in a bid to bolster their first-team ranks.

Jenz would be an option to partner new signing Carl Starfelt who this week signed a four-year deal at Parkhead from Rubin Kazan in a deal worth in the region of £4.5million.

It comes as Christopher Jullien continues his comeback trail from a long-term knee injury and his previous partner as centre-half, Kris Ajer, departed for Brentford.

Ange Postecoglou also remains in the hunt for a new right-sided full-back having had terms knocked back by target Sacha Boey. Brandon Soppy remains an option as does George Baldock.
