Celtic are monitoring Derby County's Lee Buchanan as they look to strengthen their defence.

The Hoops have been watching the left-back with Greg Taylor and Boli Bolingoli the two current options at the club.

It is still not known whether the latter will be given a chance to redeem himself to the Parkhead faithful, especially with Ange Postecoglou now monitoring Buchanan.

Celts have been linked with the defender's teammate Nathan Byrne. But Herald and Times Sport understands Buchanan is also on a list of potential targets in the defensive area.

Buchanan, just 20 years of age, fits the profile of up and coming player Postecoglou fancies in his Hoops outfit.

The left-back has already been the subject of two bids from Nottingham Forest - believed to be in the region of around £1.2million - but those have been kicked into touch by Rams boss Wayne Rooney.

The Manchester Utd legend recently claimed none of his stars would be leaving. But if a decent bid is put forward by Celtic, Buchanan could be the exception.

Buchanan has one year left on his contract at Pride Park.
