FASHION SAKALA has expressed his relief at scoring his maiden Rangers goal after admitting to a 'stressful' period in quarantine on his arrival in Scotland.

The striker marked his first start for Steven Gerrard's side with a clinical finish and impressive all-round performance in the victory over Real Madrid on Sunday.

Sakala arrived in Glasgow from Belgian side KV Oostende earlier this summer and had to abide by quarantine regulations before joining up with the Gers.

But he has made an immediate impression on the Ibrox crowd as he savoured the experience and victory against Carlo Ancelotti's side that saw Rangers round off their pre-season schedule in style.

Sakala told RangersTV: "I was very excited to play in the presence of the fans.

"On Saturday I was surprised by the noise but my team-mates told me I have to wait until the stadium is full - that I haven't seen how they bounce!

"So I am waiting for that. But I am very happy and proud to play in front of the fans.

"Scoring my goal means a lot to me as it was something I was looking for.

"My team-mates are making this easy for me and they support they are giving me makes me very comfortable.

"I still think there are things for me to work on. It was hard for me being in quarantine for ten days - to come out of that was a little bit stressful.

"But I got great support from the club and messages from the players when I was in quarantine really helped me.

"I was worried about who I should be talking to when I came out of quarantine but I got the messages from the players which really helped me to settle in very fast.

"It was stressful but I am proud I got the support from the club.

"We have worked hard and are ready for the competition to start.

"I think this is what we have been waiting for. We are doing things together and I'm pretty sure we are ready."
