Thomas Robert is training with Salford in a bid to win a deal down south.
The French youngster, son of Newcastle hero Laurent, had been in with Premier League outfit Burnley for pre-season but was unable to nail down a contract despite suggestions he was set to join their under-23s.
Robert, 20, was also in training at Lennoxtown with Celtic during Neil Lennon's time at the club but, again, was not picked up following his successful spell at Airdrie in League One.
Now, Herald and Times Sport understands Salford - who have been interested in the attacker since his time at the Excelsior Stadium - have asked the player to go into training with their squad to get a better look.
The League Two English side have big plans and with the playmaker still young, he could fit into the future under manager Gary Bowyer.
