SCOTT BAIN 6

Replaced Vasilis Barkas in the starting line-up and looked far from assured. Was hardly tested in the first half, but in the second period he looked shaky in possession. Made an error shortly before Midtjylland’s equaliser.

GREG TAYLOR 5

Was forced into a heavy defensive shift due to the pacey Awer Mabil. Looked like he was lacking ideas on the few occasions that he entered the opposition half.

DANE MURRAY 7

A fine showing on his competitive debut. A tough game to be thrown into the action but he competed well and certainly didn’t look out of place. Could play a big part this season depending on who Ange Postecoglou can bring in at centre back.

STEPHEN WELSH 6

Booked early in the game so had to tweak his game accordingly. Was strong in the air and in the tackle. Another one who is young and inexperienced, but used his game time from last season to produce a steady display.

ANTHONY RALSTON 7

A solid defensive shift. Kept the speedy Pione Sisto relatively quiet and also tried to get forward to join the attack. Hit the byline on a couple of occasions before delivering some decent balls into the box.

ISMAILA SORO 7

Battled well in the middle of the park and moved the ball well. Enjoyed a midfield battle with Evander and took a sore one shortly after the interval following a 50/50 challenge.

CALLUM MCGREGOR 8

An impressive performance by the Celtic skipper. Polished in possession and always looked forward for a pass. Capped off his display with a goal of the season contender. Wonderful stuff.

DAVID TURNBULL 6

Always eager to get on the ball and looked to feed Odsonne Edouard at every opportunity. Wasteful at times in the final third, but a decent display. A fine strike in the first half had to be dealt with by Midtjylland goalkeeper Lossl.

ODSONNE EDOUARD 6

Led the line well and linked up occasionally with Ryan Christie and David Turnbull. Still lacked confidence in front of goal. Had a couple of half chances in the first half but failed to take them.

LIEL ABADA 6

Always looked a threat when in possession and his pace caused the Danes problems. Final ball was lacking at times, but that was partly down to Midtjylland doubling up on him.

RYAN CHRISTIE 7

Looked back to his best but failed to create any clear-cut chances. Caused the Danish defence problems with his pace and trickery but lacked a killer instinct.

SUBS

JAMES FORREST (FOR ABADA, 60) 4

Missed a huge chance to double Celtic’s lead just after he was introduced from the bench. The home side then went up the other end and equalised.

TOM ROGIC (FOR SORO, 98) 3

Looked off the pace when introduced late on.

ALBIAN AJETI (FOR TAYLOR, 105) 3

Thrown on in extra time as an extra striker.

ADAM MONTGOMERY (FOR TURNBULL, 105) 3

Never had time to make an impact after being brought on late in the day.
