Allan McGregor 6: Wasn't troubled in the first-half whatsoever but Soren Rieks' strike gave goalkeeper no chance. Couldn't keep out second goal either as Gers capitulated early in second 45.
James Tavernier 5: Caught out of position badly for Malmo opener and gave possession away for their second less than a minute later. Kept trying to get forward, to his credit, but opponents nullified Gers' wide options.
Filip Helander 6: Was strong in the challenge against his former club but couldn't prevent either goal. Won his individual battles and was steady enough.
Connor Goldson 5: Lapse in concentration for Malmo second goal as he fluffed his lines at an attempted clearance. Won his headers before that in first-half but didn't look up to speed.
Borna Barisic 5: Not hard to see the left-back has lacked game time in recent weeks. Forced to defend more often than he attacked and his deliveries were not to usual standard.
John Lundstram 6: Comfortable in possession but clear to see he is more willing to do dirty work in the tackle and move ball on for more attack-minded teammates. Some bad decision making prevented potential Gers attacks.
Steven Davis 6: Looked settled in first-half but couldn't dictate play as he usually would as game progressed and Malmo gained more confidence. Cut a frustrated figure but scored absolute stunner on final whistle.
Scott Arfield 6: Made some clever runs which weren't picked out but like rest of his teammates but had a busier game breaking up opposition play.
Scott Wright 7: Showed glimpses of his attacking prowess before the break but slipped at most inopportune time when he may have had a chance at goal. Faded as game went on but still probably Gers' biggest threat.
Ryan Kent 5: Another who provided moments of trickery but they were few and far between. Saw a lot of the ball but couldn't light the spark to get Rangers going.
Cedric Itten 6: Held the ball up so well for Rangers to take his teammates up the pitch and introduce the runners to provide opportunities. Rarely got a sniff at goal but did the messy part of the game perfectly. Subbed.
Substitutes
Fashion Sakala (on for Itten, 63) 4: Had a decent chance from a Scott Wright pass but was quickly closed down. Put himself about but unable to show explosive pace.
