CALVIN BASSEY was pleased he made the most of his chance to impress as he produced a superb showing in the 5-0 victory over Dunfermline.
The left-back got the nod ahead of Borna Barisic for the Premier Sports Cup clash as boss Steven Gerrard made eight changes from the defeat to Malmo on Tuesday night.
Bassey's terrific performance against the Pars was arguably his most accomplished for Rangers since making the move from Leicester City last summer.
The Englishman has now staked his claim for a starting spot as Rangers turn their attentions to the Europa League play-off round clash with Alashkert next week.
And Bassey was pleased to be able to contribute as he played his part in the final third and caught the eye against Peter Grant's side.
Bassey said: "I want to thank the manager and the staff for trusting me, and I want to thank God for me being here.
"I want to give my best every time I get my chance and I was happy with the win.
"It was a chance for me and all the boys who haven't been playing.
"We always train hard and it was good to take the chance and get back to winning ways.
"We always want to give our best and we are happy to have the fans back. It was good to get the win for the 50,000 fans.
"I have been working on my crosses every day. I look at Borna and Tav and how they do it, and I try to get better. It was good to get two assists.
"We have a lot of games coming up. We are happy and we need to enjoy the win."
