GARY MCALLISTER reckons Rangers got their 'snap' back at Ibrox as they eased into the quarter finals of the Premier Sports Cup with a 5-0 victory over Dunfermline.

Rangers went into the Pars clash on the back of three successive defeats after losing their unbeaten Premiership run and seeing their Champions League dreams come to a premature end against Malmo.

Steven Gerrard's side were 4-0 up at the break as John Lundstram, Scott Wright, Ianis Hagi and Kemar Roofe netted to ensure they responded in an emphatic manner to their European exit.

Roofe slotted home from the penalty spot in the second half to complete the scoring on a comfortable night and assistant manager McAllister was encouraged by the result and performance from a much-changed Gers side.

McAllister said: "You go into a game, you are looking for a clean sheet, you are looking to score a goal and you are looking to perform. I think we ticked all those boxes.

"I said before the game we were looking for a reaction, a response and we got it. We started the game ever so well.

"The one word the manager was using prior to the game was ‘snap’. I thought there was a snap in our tackles, I thought there was a snap in our play and I thought we looked nice and sharp in front of goal. It has been a good night.

"We have played like this for nearly a year now. It has been a tough week but I thought the crowd, right from the word go, were behind us.

"An early goal helps. And then I thought we played with some nice confidence, there was some great combination play around the corner of the boxes to create the chances and we looked exciting.

"I thought Scott Wright and Hagi were excellent tonight so we got them off the pitch unscathed and ready for the next few games."
