Celtic have made an opening offer for Josip Juranovic of Legia Warsaw.

The Croatian right-back is now top priority for Ange Postecoglou's side who have also been monitoring other defenders in recent times.

Yan Couto, Aurelio Buta and George Baldock have all been namechecked as potential options but Herald and Times Sport understands the Hoops have narrowed in on Juranovic.

We also understand their opening offer of around £2million was rebuffed by the Polish outfit.

However sources in Poland are confident a deal can still be struck and that the Glasgow giants will return to the table with an improved bid.

Juranovic is keen on a move to Celtic and is seen as a perfect fit as a player who can both defend and attack equally as competently.

Currently Anthony Ralston is Celtic's only registered right-back and although he has been impressive at the early stage of the season, Celts need and want cover in that area.

Their target has made himself Croatia's first-choice full-back on the right-hand side and he played at Hampden in Euro 2020 when his side beat Scotland 3-1.
