ANGE Postecoglou has stressed he will have no qualms about playing Odsonne Edouard against Rangers at Ibrox today despite interest in the Celtic striker intensifying.

The summer transfer window closes on Tuesday and French forward Edouard looks set to be the subject of several multi-million pounds bids before then.

The 23-year-old, a record £9m capture from Paris Saint-Germain back in 2018, has attracted interest from Bordeaux, Brighton, Crystal Palace and Rubin Kazan this summer.

And now Everton have emerged as contenders for his signature.

But Postecoglou, who will experience his first Old Firm game this afternoon, is confident the player can help his side record a cinch Premiership win against the Scottish champions today.

“No-one can tell me that they are watching Odsonne play at the moment and say that he is not giving everything,” he said.  “Even on Thursday (against AZ Alkmaar in the Europa League play-off) I thought he came on and made a difference for us.

“We didn’t start with him because I felt they would come at us and with the speed of Kyogo (Furuhashi) and Liel (Abada) and Ryan (Christie) wide we could get in to the space behind them and cause some problems.

“I had the feeling we would need Odsonne later to hold the ball up for and he did his job superbly for us. He scored on the weekend. He is in good form. You know there is no hesitation whatsoever for me to select him on Sunday.”

Postecoglou stated that he will be pleased if neither Christie, who is in talks with Celtic over a contract extension, or Edouard leave this week.

“I will be happy if they all stay,” he said. “I’ve said before that I am not going to convince anyone to stay, but they are quality players.

“He (Edouard) and Ryan are the ones people are speaking about most and they have both been fantastic, their attitude and the way they train, since I have come in.

“If they stay, great. But I also know that these are decisions for them. They know what is best for their careers and their lives.

“If it so happens that they leave in this window then they do so on the best possible terms. They have given everything for the shirt. If they stay then brilliant. They are two quality players who will add to what we have.”

Asked about Christie’s contract negotiations, Postecoglou said: “The is no real update on that at the moment. There is a dialogue, but nothing significant at the moment.”
