Cedric Itten has revealed the reason he fancied leaving Rangers on loan.

The Swiss striker departed Ibrox this afternoon on a season-long deal to join Greuther Fürth in the Bundesliga.

With the arrival of Fashion Sakala this summer and the already established strike force of Alfredo Morelos, Kemar Roofe and Jermain Defoe, Itten would have found playing time hard to come by.

And he believes he has made the correct decision to develop as a player.

"I believe that in Fürth I will find exactly the conditions to develop myself as best as possible," the attacker said. "With the impressions from the conversations and what I have already heard about Fürth, it was my absolute wish to come to Fürth."

Itten's new loan club say they have the option to purchase the player on a permanent deal as Gers also have the option to recall him in January should they see fit.

But coach Stefan Leitl reckons the new face can have a big impact.

He said: "Cedric brings a lot of power as a striker.

"We are happy to have another option on the offensive with him."
